Found in Chilka Lake (Ref. 29108); Vasishti River and Dhom reservoir, Maharashtra (Ref. 43634, 44323); Moyar, Chammanaar, Tamiraparani and Bhavani Rivers (Ref. 44151); Tamil Nadu; Karimpuzha, Arikayam Puzha (Ref. 44148); Kabani and Kallar Rivers, Kerala (Ref. 44149, 44323); Tripura (Ref. 97593). Common at quite high altitudes in river Tawi (Jammu) and its tributaries (Ref. 4833). A popular foodfish especially when freshly caught in West Bengal (Ref. 4833). Present in Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal lakes (Ref. 89721), also in Buxa, Adma and Jayanti rivers (Ref. 89719). Also Ref. 27732, 36654, 41236, 43640, 45204, 87807.
