Comments

Reported from 5-100 m depth. It has a specialized diet in the Canary Islands, both in size and species. The main prey item are teleosts and secondary cephalopods. The opportunistic character of this predator is reflected by the diversity of preys (Ref. 107710). It is the most frequent observed elasmobranch species by recreational divers and shows a strong seasonal pattern in sighting probability with a low when seawater temperatures reaches its maximum (above 22˚C) (Ref. 107711). This species produces 13.0 ± 1.9 pups/litter, with ±6 months gestation period, and size at birth 24-26 cm TL (Ref. 107713). A triannual reproductive cycle is observed in the islands (Ref. 107713). Also Ref. 247.
