Comments: Known from the European Black Sea watersheds and western and central Anatolian lake watersheds (Ref. 58342). Also ref. 106151. Introduced into the Kayaboğazi Dam Lake, Kesikköprü Dam Lake, Porsuk Dam Lake, Çivril Lake, Bayindir Dam Lake and Çamkoru Pond (Ref. 57271). Threatened by construction of weirs/dams in rivers (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 74657. Status of threat: Least concern (Ref. 58342). EurTurk

Etymology: Tinca: Latin, timica; realted to a predatory fish = timi, but the etymology of tench does not conform with this meaning (Ref. 45335);  tinca: tinca which is the latin name for tench (Ref. 1998).
