Comments: Type locality, Barinas, Obispos, Río La Yuca, N of San José Obrero, MCNG 54508 (holotype of Phenacorhamdia taphorni, 4.15 cm SL). Restricted to the piedmont sections of the Santo Domingo, Masparro and Boconó rivers, which drain the eastern slope of the Andes of Barinas state to the Apure river and is allopatric to its congeneric species (Ref. 78618).
