Described from specimens collected only from the type locality, Lake Manguao, near Taytay in nothern Palawan (Ref. 2933). Specimens collected in the 1989 survey from the lake (46 individuals) and from Manguao stream (3), about 2 km NW of the lake were not spearated into the two species (bantolanensis and manguaoensis)(Ref. 13489). Study conducted in 2003 showed that P. manguaoensis occupies the littoral zone while P. bantolanensis occupies the open water zone (Ref. 50862).
