Comments: Seven specimens, 13.3 - 17.6 cm, were collected by Herre in 1922 from the type locality, the rapids of the Agus, just below Dansalan bridge a short distance from Lake Lanao; caught using hook and line (Ref. 2929, 70969). Reported from 1986 survey by Mercene (Ref. 13446). No specimens were collected during the 1994 expedition (Ref. 10888).

Etymology: Barbodes: Latin, barbus = barbel + Greek, oides = similar to (Ref. 45335).

Issue
This species has no status in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Jul. 2010: Ref. 84883). Probably a synonym in Puntius Hamilton, 1822 following Banarescu 1997. Please send references, or more studies are needed.
