Etymology: Taeniurops:From feminine Latin noun, 'taenia' = ribbon or band, ancient Greek 'oura' = tail, referring to fin fold underneath tail and Greek 'ops' = appearance; originally proposed as a subgenus of Taeniura (Richard Bajol, pers.
