Comments: Type locality, Off Iwate Pref., Sea of Japan, HUMZ 78238 (holotype of Nansenia sanrikuensis) (Ref. 86697). Occurs on the Pacific coast of the Tôhoku district. Two specimens (20.6 and 23.9 cm TL) were taken by trawl from 800 to 1000 m (Ref. 559). Also Ref. 96339.
