Comments: Known only in the lakes of Killarney (Ref. 28679). A few spawning populations are confined to a number of rivers along the south and south-west coast: Slaney, Barrow, Nore, Suir and Blackwater. Occasionally captured in coastal waters; commercial quantities are occasionally collected in the Slaney estuary; exploited by anglers in May/June during spawning migration in the Barrow (Ref. 79581). Also Ref. 12255. Status of threat following the 1990 IUCN classification: vulnerable (Ref. 79581).
