Type locality of the holotype of Raiamas marqueti: 'DRC: Lualaba Province: Upemba National Park, Kalule Nord River at the bridge on the road Mukulakula-Lubudi, 9°41'37"S 25°50'53"E' (Ref. 122357). Known from several right bank tributaries of Upper Congo River, including Lowa River (Ref. 122357), Lukuga River (Ref. 122357) and Kalule Nord River (Ref. 122357); also known from Ruzizi River, Lake Tanganyika drainage (Ref. 122357).

Etymology: marqueti:The species name, marqueti, is in honour of Jean-Pierre Marquet, former technical assistant of the Belgian Technical Cooperation project 'PRODEPAAK', in recognition of his remarkable efforts in fish collecting and who provided logistic support for the Katanga Expedition 2012 which resulted in the discovery of this new species (Ref. 122357).
