Comments: Known from Pool Malebo (Ref. 41585, 44796, 44842, 44985, 45486), the middle Congo River (Ref. 4910, 42907), Kasai (Ref. 42907), Ubangi (Ref. 41590, 45441), Uélé (Ref. 42907), Ruki (Ref. 42907, 93897) and Itimbiri (Ref. 106290). Type-locality of holotype of Polypterus weeksii: 'Monsembe, Upper Congo' (Ref. 3188, 45628). Type-locality of holotype of Polypterus schoutedeni: 'Fl. Congo à Mongende (Congo belge)' (Ref. 3188, 49956). Also Ref. 1878, 1879, 3188, 4537, 41591, 42033, 42855.
