Known from the middle Congo River basin in the Kouyou River (Likouala tributary) (Ref. 44840) and the Léfini (Ref. 88782). Reports from the Lali (upper Kouilou tributary) by Pellegrin (1931)(FB Ref. 80297) and Hugueny (1989) based on misidentified S. multitaeniatus (Ref. 43912); presence also unconfirmed in Ref. 81643.
