Etymology: Hepsetus:Greek, epsetas, -e, -on = boiled, but there is the following sentence: "oí epsetoi" = certain fishes, and also could be related to "psetta" = grouper (Ref. 45335); odoe:The specific name refers to the local names in the Adangme language of Hepsetus specimens in Ghana: 'Akawo nyagbe', which means 'dog-like teeth' and 'akawo' which means 'attacker' or 'predator' (Ref. 88135).
