Recorded from the rivers at Tientsin, Hopei Prov. (type locality); Amur basin (Ref. 13397); Bosten lake (Ref. 41093); and Tungting Lake, where is is known as "kuei-yü" (Ref. 35840). Widely moved to ponds and great inland waters (Ref. 55380). Great population frequently found in Yangtze estuary and Shanghai district, in inland rivers and lakes (Ref. 85820).
