Found in streams draining the Serra dos Carajás, Paraupebas, Pará, at the type
locality and nearby points, in unnamed tributaries to the left bank of Rio Paraupebas, itself a tributary to the Rio Itacaiúnas, lower Rio Tocantins basin. Occurs in the lower portion of the Rio Tocantins basin, at the edge of the Brazilian Shield into the Amazon basin (Ref. 96502).
