Comments: Type locality, Mato Grosso: Campos de Júlio: rio Formiga (tributary of rio Juruena, upper rio Tapajós basin), on the road BR-364 (MT-235), between Campos de Júlio and Sapezal, MCP 35570 (holotype of Ancistrus parecis, 59.5 mm SL, male). Known from the upper rio Juruena of the rio Tapajós basin (Ref. 56914).
