Comments: Known only from the upper rio Tocantins and its tributaries. Type locality, between Minaçu and Cavalcante, at site of future hydroelectric dam of Serra da Mesa, rio Tocantins, Goiás, MNRJ 20873 (holotype, 10.29 cm SL, male) (Ref. 49598).

Issue
In Ambruster et al., 2015 (Ref. 99824), no characteristics were found to separate Ancistomus micrommatos from A. spiloma and A. spinosissimus, and these may represent the same species.
