Comments: Type locality, Estado do Pará, Río Trombetas drainage. Reserva Biológica de Trombetas, igarapé at km 4 on the road to Perirnetral Norte, MZUSP 15887 (holotype of Aequidens tubicen, 10.38 cm SL, adult female) (Ref. 86501). Known only from the Amazon River basin in the Trombetas Rriver close to Cachoeira Porteira (Ref. 36377).
