Comments: Type locality of Hopliancistrus tricornis, Pará State, São Luis, Poça de Pedra on Rio Tapajós. Known to be restricted to the middle part of Rio Tapajós basin in the São Luiz rapids, its main tributaries, such as the lower part of Rio Jamanxim and Rio Itapacura; also in small tributaries, such as Igarape Leitoso, tributary of the Rio Cupari, Ruropolis municipality (Ref. 125999).
