Comments: Known from the Paraguay River basin (Ref. 38504). Reported to have a feeding association with the brown capuchin monkey Cebus apella in western Brazil. Monkeys during feeding on fruits from vegetation along river banks break and drop twigs, leaves, and fruits in the water below, thus, attracting the fish to feed on the fruits (Ref. 40097).
