Comments: Type locality of Hypostomus hermanni, Rio Piracicaba, Sao Paulo (Ref. 6868). Known from southeastern Brazil (São Paulo, Piracicaba River and Tietê River basin) and southern Brazil (Paraná, Paraná River main channel and three of its left tributaries, Paranapanema, Ivaí, and Piquiri basin) (Ref. 124595).
