Occurs in hill streams of Mymensingh (Kangsha and Someswari rivers), Sunamgonj (Para river), Dinajpur (Mahananda river) and Chittagong Hill Tracts (Karnafuli reservoir). Found throughout the upper regions of Mymensingh, Sylhet and Dinajpur basin river systems (Ref. 56220). A consignment of this fish has been brought from Nepal and raised in the Freshwater Station of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (Ref. 56220). Also Ref. 4832, 31807, 39989, 41236, 56321.
