Known from the Okavango, Zambezi (Ref. 120641) and the southern Congo River basin (Ref. 120641) in the Kwilu River (middle Congo River basin)(Ref. 11970, 95523, 96084). Type locality of the holotype of Hemigrammocharax lineostriatus: "Alto Cuílo, mare des rives du Cuílo" (Ref. 11970). Also Ref. 7094.
