Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 2. Diagnosis: caudal peduncle short and deep, its depth twice as large as the horizontal distance between the adipose and caudal fin bases and in some specimens even deeper; anterior edge of pectoral spine fully serrate with serrations that are smaller but more numerous than those along posterior edge of spine; barbels very long, e.g. external mandibular barbel reaching beyond tip of pectoral spine, maxillary barbel reaching at least to pectoral spine base; adipose fin always high and solid; typical colour pattern consisting of 6-10 (11) vertical rows of black dots (Ref. 81642).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5020   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00525 (0.00221 - 0.01248), b=3.09 (2.87 - 3.31), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.8   ±0.6 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Moderate vulnerability (40 of 100).
