| Body elongate, dorsal fin beginning over posterior part of appressed pectoral fin. Anteriormost dorsal pterygiophore reduced, without an associated spine; first spine-bearing dorsal pterygiophore inserting into fourth neural interspace.
Pigmentation: Horizontally elongate melanophores along midventral line from throat to a point approximately half a head length anterior to gas bladder, in a single row anterior to level of pectoral-fin base, diverging into a paired series posterior to that point. A paired series of melanophores along base of anal fin, followed by two or three median melanophores on midventral line just behind anal fin. A short middorsal series of melanophores between posterior end of dorsal fin and base of caudal fin. One or two midlateral melanophores on posterior end of caudal peduncle. Melanophores on proximal portion of middle caudal rays and distally on ventral caudal rays. Melanophores internally on dorsal surface of air bladder an posteroventrally on neurocranium. |
