At about 3.3 mm, the mouth becomes terminal and nearly vertical. At about 4.0 mm, the principal rays of the caudal fin are present and are partially differentiated. At about 7.5 mm, the snout is pointed, soft rays of dorsal and anal fins are differentiated; air bladder still visible. At 10.0 mm, the fish has assumed almost all adult characteristics; body robust, depth about 5.3 times the standard length; ventral fins developed as a sucking disk. Pigmentation consists of dark markings along anal fin and on ventral outline; chromatophores scattered vaguely as bars on sides and back. At 15.0 mm, body is 5.3 times deep of SL; snout blunt; mouth small, oblique, slightly inferior; fins fully developed and body fully pigmented. |
