Yolk comprises 53 % of the larval dry weight. The yolk sac is used up in about 36 h, at 3.5-4.0 mm SL (Ref. 265). The larvae are transparent and threadlike, with well-developed olfactory and lateral line organs. Mouth is terminal. Pigmentation: few form dorsolaterally on gut and on ventral margin of tail mid-way through stage (Ref. 35602).
