| Spawning occurs throughout the year, but may be more intensive around September-October, which is the calm season in most of the Banggai Archipelago (Ref. 95052).
The female exudes an egg mass, containing 12 - 40 ova (each 2.5 - 3 mm in diameter), which the male takes into his mouth. The male incubates the eggs for 2-3 weeks. Newly hatched embryos are about 6 mm long and remain in the male's mouth for 6 - 10 days (Ref. 35396). |
