Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range - 550 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Philippines.
Diagnosis:  This large and slender species is distinguished from all its regional congeners by the following set of characters: absence of saddle or blotch patterns on body and caudal fin (except in G. sauteri); large size, exceeding 50 cm TL (except G. longirostris, G. nipponensis); with a higher count of monospondylous vertebrae (40) (except G. longirostris, G. nipponensis); and precaudal vertebrae 83 (Ref. 127969).
