Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: endemic to Lake Lanao, Dansalan, Mindanao Island, Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Preserved color nearly light brown all over, dusky above; operculum with a blackish irregular spot; lips and lower jaw black; pale fins. 11-15 scales between nape and dorsal; 2.5 scales from ventrals to lateral line. Scales with concentric striae, those on dorsal half also with longitudinal striae.

Country info:  Described from ten type specimens, 9.7 - 11.2 cm, collected from Dansalan, Lake Lanao, Mindanao (Ref. 2929). Still present in a 1982 survey (Ref. 12758). Also Ref. 3881, 70969. Reported from 1986 survey by Mercene (Ref. 13446)
