Distribution:  Central America: Rio Chajmaic and Rio de la Pasion basin in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits fast-flowing waters that are usually densely vegetated and have a temperature of 25°C. Occasionally occurs with the livebearer Scolichthys iota. Males attain a body length up to 7.5 cm plus 3 to 4 cm for the sword.
