Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Oceania: south-central New Guinea and Australia. Asia: Indonesia (Ref. 2847).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 15-17
Biology:  Inhabits small streams and swamps, usually with abundant overhanging vegetation. Breeds in the early wet season, as small juveniles have been recorded in the late wet (Ref. 44894). A rare species.
