Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 200 - 500 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: known only from the Kochi Prefecture, Japan. Larvae known from seas around Ryukyu Islands and east of Taiwan (Ref. 10877).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 96-102; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 76-82. Body deep ovate, 2.2 times in SL. Tip of isthmus below posterior margin of lower eye. Eye separated by a deep, broad and concave space. Interorbital in male broader than that in female, its width becoming broad with growth. Body color on ocular side dark-blue, anterior margin of head marked with 6 yellowish-white blotches.
