Max. size:  46 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Mahanadi, Krishna and Godavari river systems in India.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in rivers. Feeds on algae, protozoans, rotifers and crustaceans. Does not breed in ponds. Cultivated in ponds in South India. Fry are collected for stocking purposes.
