Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Oceania: Admiralty and Solomon Islands and the Bismarck Archipelago in the western Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 11-12. Predorsal midline almost always with naked patches, four to 18 scales; pectoral base almost always naked; opercle almost always naked, breast naked, third and fourth spines of 1st dorsal fin may be slightly filamentous on males, body anteriorly, head and pectoral fins dusky in both sexes.
Biology:  Recorded from freshwater streams.
