Speonectes tiomanensis (Kottelat, 1990)

Max. size:  5.82 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: granitic cave in Gunung Kajang, Tioman Island, Malaysia. Reportedly most related to Sundoreonectes obesus from east and south Kalimantan and Sarawak; no other loaches were found in the island.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. With reduced, partly embedded eyes; almost round body, tapering posteriorly (Ref. 37830).
Biology:  Cave-restricted species (Ref. 27297). A 4.89 cm SL female has ripe eggs (about 1.0 mm diameter) in its gonads (Ref. 37830).
