Family:  Heptapteridae (Three-barbeled catfishes)
Max. size:  26 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Central America: river basins in Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Lives in rivers and creeks between 20 and 1160 m elevation in currents of low to moderate velocity, with stony bottoms and substrata of sand and mud. Feeds mainly on aquatic insects, seeds and small fish (Ref. 36880).
