Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Distinguished from all congeners by following characters: lateral line incomplete, not reaching pelvic fin base; 4-7 perforated scales; middle of flank from gill openings to caudal fin base with dark brown stripe, not widened posteriorly; second light yellowish stripe located above dark brown stripe; body and fins lacking red pigmentation (Ref. 93745).
Biology:  Inhabits lower reaches of rivers, streams with strong current in mountain areas, lakes, and ponds (Ref. 93745).
