Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 150 - 413 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan, Philippines, Australia (Queensland) and Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 12-12; Vertebrae: 27-27. This species is distinguished by the following characters: with enlarged hyperostotic bones of the head (first infraorbital, preopercular ridge that includes bones of the infraorbital series, frontal bones in front of orbit, parietals, nuchal spines), cleithral spines, and D1 fin spines 2, 3, and 4. P1 rays 12+3. Nape and breast with scales.
