Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Madagascar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-27; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 16-17; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species distinguished by the following characters: 26-27 segmented dorsal-fin rays; 16-17 segmented anal fin rays; 41-45 scales in lateral series; 32-36 anterior lateral line scales; 20-21 circumpeduncular scales; 32-34 total caudal-fin rays; opercle with a distinct dark spot anteriorly, no dark spot on opercular flap (Ref. 81967).
