Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  2.63 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 70 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-9; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinguished by the following characters: body with 7 dark, wide bars; caudal peduncle deep; no scales on opercle or preopercle; DVI-I,10 modally; A I,9; pectoral-fin rays 18 modally (Ref. 39609).
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 126840. Occurs over sandy bottom with many algae covered boulders from 9.1-10.7 m and over sand, rock and algae from tide pools at 0-1 m (Ref. 39609).
