Family:  Haemulidae (Grunts), subfamily: Haemulinae
Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 3 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-15; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Caudal fin slightly forked.
Biology:  Inshore species found over rock-sand bottoms. Usually in schools.
