Description: Adults overall purplish brown, caudal peduncle pale (Ref. 90102), and have a yellow and black band along pectoral fin base. Juveniles are light pinkish brown (Ref. 48636). Adult and juvenile soft dorsal fin with ocellus. Body depth 1.9-2.0 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
| Adults inhabit silty reefs, with scattered algae, soft and hard corals. Solitary or in groups of up to 5 individuals and remain close to shelter (Ref. 11891). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). |
