Pollimyrus petricolus (Daget, 1954)

Max. size:  11 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Africa: Niger River, Markala and Kainji Lake.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 20-23; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 23-26. SL/Depth 3.7-4.8. Head 3.9-4.7 x SL, 3.6-5.2 x bigger than eye diameter. Pectoral fins 1.1-1.4 x head length, posterior end reaching origin of pelvic fins (which is 1.7-2.2 x length if pectorals). Dorsal and anal fin origins at same level. Caudal peduncle height 2.1-3.2 x of its length. Color uniformly dark, almost black (Upper Niger); Middle Niger individuals light colored with small dots of melanophores.
Biology:  Affinities: sympatric with P. isidori.
