Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: southern tributaries of Ohio River from Monongahela River in Pennsylvania to Kentucky River in Kentucky, south in New River drainage to North Carolina in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits fast boulder riffles and runs of small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723).
