Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
Max. size:  56 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 50 - 350 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Guinea to southern Angola.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in deep shelf and upper slopes over mud, sand and rock bottoms. Also moves in midwater, in equatorial regions below the thermocline (Ref. 3593).
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 10 March 2020 (A2bd) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
