Max. size:  42.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 18 - 40 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from the type specimens collected at Walters Shoals (33°9'-16'S, 43°49'-56'E), 400 nm south of Madagascar.
Diagnosis:  Lateral line with 69 or 70 tubed scales; scales present on maxilla; caudal fin lunate; color in life blue; jaws lacking exserted teeth anteriorly.
