Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-10
Biology:  Inhabits rivers, creeks, swamps, lakes and ponds. Usually shelters among log debris or undercut banks (Ref. 44894). Occurs in headwaters, often in hilly or mountainous terrain. Found on both rock and mud bottoms.
