Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 22 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Malaysia and Philippines to Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by yellow orange body color; presence of six narrow silvery to pale grey stripes; gill rakers on first arch 3-4+13-15, total rakers including rudiments usually 21-23 (modally 22); greatest depth of body 2.7-3.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits coral reef (Ref. 75154). Solitary or in groups, adults in pairs. Also found in sheltered rocky reefs in 2-15 m, often in silty conditions (Ref 90102).
