Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobionellinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Natal, South Africa to Indonesia and the western Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 10-11. Brownish with dark blotches along back; faint blotches on mid side, the last on caudal base; fins usually spotted (Ref. 2798).
Biology:  Occurs inshore, enters lagoons (Ref. 4343). Found in muddy estuaries and coastal bays (Ref. 4833). Enters lower reaches of freshwater streams (Ref. 2847). Feeds on small fishes, crustaceans and other invertebrates (Ref. 12693).
